Let's Talk About LYFTS Baby, Let's talk about UBER Fees!

I hope you sang that the way I meant for you to, but if not, oh well! HAHA

So, in the past when I would fly into Orlando, we always used Disney's Magical Express to get to the parks. We stayed on Disney Property and never left. Disney makes it very enticing to never have to leave their Resort! And the convenience is unbeatable.

After this year (2021) Disney's Magical Express will not longer be included in the Disney Vacation Package, (this is going to be missed sooo much) So! What will our options be?

There are many shuttle bus options such as Mears, and SOMEDAY there will be a train to take you to Disney Springs! and then you can get on a Disney Shuttle Bus from there!

Lets talk about UBER/Lyft/ride share options.

When my flight landed at 3:15 on a Friday... the Lyft price was $70 for a 20 minute ride to the Universal Resort! Now, to split this charge between a few people it wouldn't have been that bad, but for me, a single person.... that was a lot. This charge was shocking to me because every time I looked for pricing before my trip it said $25-30 was going to be the charge.

When I waited 30-40 minutes after my flight the price went back down. But... who really wants to wait in the airport that long to get the price of your car ride down. (I did, only because I had a friend whose flight was going to be later and I didn't know what her price was going to be, so either way it was better for us to spilt the cost.)

ALSO, UBER was consistently cheaper than Lyft. When Lyft said $70 Uber was $50. My advice is to download both and compare pricing before you schedule a pick up.

So, after all this and the debacle I put myself through, could I have saved myself this headache? 100% HAHA

Universal Studios has a shuttle option that is $39 per adult and $29 for children ages 3 – 9.

This is still technically more than what I ended up paying for a ride to and from the resort to the airport. BUT with the prices of Lyft/Uber fluctuating. Riding the shuttle guarantees a set price, AND is convenient with kids because you don't have to have car seats!

Long story short... IF I was to do this again, without kids- solo trip- I would have just chose to ride the Shuttle Bus- IF I had someone I was flying with and we landed at the same time- I would Uber/Lyft again!

IF I was to do Universal or Disney with kids I will ALWAYS be purchasing a shuttle option.
